August had the most tourist nights in 2025, with 25.5% of the year. February had the fewest, with 2.9%, so August was 8.9 times as busy. July and August together carried 48.7% of the year.1 Months below an average month's share of 8.3%: January, February, March, April, May, June, September, October, November and December.
Residents or guests from abroad?
Guests living outside North Macedonia spent 49.1% of 2025's tourist nights.1 Their busiest month was July and their quietest February; for guests living in North Macedonia, the busiest was August and the quietest March.1

What exactly is counted?
The office counts tourist nights in accommodation establishments of every kind it surveys, from hotels to camps and rooms for rent. It defines a tourist as any person who temporarily spends at least one night in some accommodation establishment not located in his or her usual place of residence.
It also notes that some stays, particularly in private rooms and cottages and with relatives and friends, go unreported.1

What these figures cannot tell you
- Nights, not queues. A national total cannot show crowding at one sight, lake or old town.
- One year. These are 2025 figures; another year can differ.
