When is Brazil busiest with international visitors, and when is it quietest?
January had the most international tourist arrivals in 2025, with 16.0% of the year's total. June had the fewest, with 4.8%. That makes January 3.3 times as busy as June.1
Eight months each had less than an average month's share of 8.3%: April, May, June, July, August, September, October and November.
Where do Brazil's international visitors come from?
The largest group came from Argentina, with 36.5% of international tourist arrivals in Brazil in 2025, followed by Chile (8.6%) and the United States (8.2%).1

What exactly is counted?
Brazil's Ministry of Tourism counts arrivals of international tourists: non-residents whose trip includes at least one night, by country of permanent residence, month and route (air, land, sea or river). The records come from the Federal Police's migration checks at border posts. The ministry publishes them as rows by route, state and country; the monthly and yearly totals on this page are our sums of those rows. We could not read the ministry's own published total, because its news pages now ask for a login.1
Other countries count arrivals differently, which is why we do not rank Brazil against the others on the overview page.
June or September? May or October?
June was quieter than September, at 4.8% against 6.1%.
May was quieter than October, at 5.0% against 6.3%.
These compare months at similar distances from the middle of the year. They say nothing about weather, which we have not measured.
What these figures cannot tell you
Arrivals are not crowds. A month with many arrivals can still feel quiet if visitors stay briefly or spread out, and a national total cannot show how busy one city, park or beach is.
They say nothing about length of stay, weather or prices. This page has no weather or price data.
